Vampire Novelist - Anne Rice

As you may have read in my profile already, my favourite novelist is Anne Rice. I was reading her book "Interview with the Vampire" earlier today as i sat on the steps after dinner and as i did so i decided i would share a bit about her.

Anne Rice is known as the worlds greatest vampire novelist. I myself have been reading her stories since i was 14 years old. She has a great talent for capturing and portraying emotion and character personality. Her writing style is that of high sophistication and she has the ability to intertwine multiple stories in her books. An example of this is one of her characters living in the present associating with other characters (this is the surface story) and telling the story of their life in a first person perspective (what i like to call the second layer story) and even still within this second story there is another eg being told somebody elses life story or and experience (third layer story).

Intense insn't it?

I thoroughly enjoy her techniques, i like the challenge of keeping up with the story, with the flash backs and forths.

Anne Rice has had two movies "Interview with the Vampire" (starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise) and "The Queen of the Damned" (starring Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah) based on books by the same name. Both are good movies in my opinion.

Here is a few facts about Anne Rice:

- She wrote her first book "Interview with the Vampire" when she was only 11 years old
- Her birth name was Howard which she later changed to Anne.
- She would dress up for her publicity functions as a vampire or Gothic. She even once arrived in a coffin!
- She is married to Stan Rice who is a famous poet with many published works.
- She recently has stopped writing vampire novels and has written and published two books about the Bible! (this has upset many fans, including myself)

I believe del.icio.us is going to be a very helpful tool for MPI 104. after reading the brief background into its creation it reminds us that you dont have to be a genius to create something that helps people and makes life easier. You may not even have been aiming to create such a thing, you simply had an idea and explored the places it lead to eventualy stumbling across a final product.

Greetings all,

This is my first Blog here. For those that do not know me I will start with the basics. I am a student at Charles Sturt University i am living on campus in the town of Wagga Wagga. Here i am studying a double degree of Graphics design and Multimedia. One of the most frequently asked questions i have come across while i have been here is

"So where do you come from?"

Now this question was fine to answer the first 2 times. The following 30 times began to drive me insane. So here we go, for HOPEFULLY the last time i will say this.

"I come from a small town called Aberdeen" (this is where people look at me confused)
"It is apart of the Hunter Valley" (more confused expressions,... deep sigh)
"Have you heard of Scone or Muswellbrook?" (more shrugs... by now i am annoyed)
"Oh what the heck its about 2 hours from Tamworth!"

And if it gets worse, i need to say....

"It is 4 hours west of Sydney"

After that i give up.

So yes you can tell by that i come from a tiny little place less known than the Shire is to Middle Earth. The drive from my home town was very uneventful and long, a nice 10 hour drive though the australian country side doding stray cows, horses and idiot drivers and pedestrians.

Anyway, enough of the past and present and more conversation of the future. My career goal has for many years now been to work internationaly with a progressing software company with a good reputation. After university i plan on moving to the USA for work. I was originally planning on the UK, but since discovering a social life on the internet and having made many friends in the USA i have changed my mind.
